Splint2 Sm "das Holz zwischen Rinde und Kern" per. Wortschatz fach. (18. Jh.) Stammwort. Da dieses Holz leicht splittert, gehört das Wort wohl zu spleißen mit Nasalierung. Es ist aber auffällig, daß mit gleicher Bedeutung schon früher spint vorkommt, das auf mhd. spint, ahd. spint "Fett, Speck im Backwerk, Mehlstoff im Korn" zurückgeführt wird. Die Einzelheiten bleiben deshalb unklar. deutsch s. spleißen
